Ann Chen
Born in Taiwan, but raised by traditional Taiwanese parents in the Bay Area; growing up was hard to do. Life was carefully mapped out and followed meticulously. After years of suppressed yearning to express my creative energy, I gladly jumped off the wagon of “the perfect planned life” and opt for “spontaneous living”. Fashion School happened, and now I am devotedly creating the perfect Ann Chen world through fashion. As a slave to the world of couture, combining high fashion and everyday practicality has always been a part of my design philosophy.
Green means go. Red means stop. The world we live in revolves around strict rules and guidelines. I thought, "Why stop there?" The Free Yourself Collection was developed to petition the norm and reflect who I am as a designer that stands above conformity. This sustainable collection is influenced by Bruce Lee's famous quote, "Don't get set into one form, adapt it and build your own, and let it grow. Be like water." The concept is so each piece is moldable in its inspiration. There's no one-way to wear it. It can look however you covet.
